# To begin submitting characters to the Crossworlds, first propose the character as well as their trope of patronage in the Proposals section. Come up with a brief explanation as to why the character best (or at least strongly) fits the trope. (Two sentences is fine for one of the first 200 characters, but after that threshold the explanation will need to be a four-sentence paragraph.) If the character-trope proposal is accepted, you may proceed with a profile. If they are rejected, table it.
# For those who are accepted, use the template at the bottom of this page (introduced soon) to set the foundation for a character's profile. Flesh them out with portfolio descriptions, theme music (linked from a site such as YouTube) if applicable, an intro text describing who they are as well as how they entered the Crossroads, at least one profile image if applicable, as well as interaction flavor bullets.
## For the profile image, the default preference is obviously to submit official art/graphics/photos, but if none is available or if special format considerations permit, fanart that closely emulates the franchise's official art style is acceptable as well. Multiple images will be acceptable via tabs, but try to avoid submitting multiple images that show the character in the exact same state or time period. Rule of thumb is, if the form, appearance, or costume of the character has any significant changes from one picture to the next, it's normally safe to include them both. (If the profile is ultimately accepted, the official domain post may transform the images into a particular medium using an AI tool in order to unify all characters under one singular graphic as much as possible. The originals will be preserved in the Source Content Gallery pages. This is not yet finalized, however.)
## For theme music, avoid simply saying "Theme of X" or "Main Theme" whenever possible. For works specializing in distinct character themes, such as video games, for example, there will likely be a type of asset or resource within the work itself or instruction/reward material that every character with a theme also has one of. Use that common resource or a recognizable lyric as the title of the theme in the link. As for main themes of works, which normally go to main characters, instead of simply writing "Main Theme" or "Title Theme", input the name of the work itself as the linked title, whether by itself or as "Main Theme for [insert work name]". If the work's name is a Title: Subtitle name, use the Subtitle portion as the link title. If it's a Title: The Adaptation, use the Title' portion while abbreviating The Adaptation portion, as in Title TA. For further details and indexed examples, see Custom Asset Titles.

Character Profile Submission
# To begin submitting characters to the Crossworlds, first propose the character as well as their trope of patronage in the Initial Proposals folder on the Preparations page.
# For those who are accepted, use the template at the bottom of this page (soon to be introduced) to create a folder in the Preparations page and set the foundation for a character's profile. Start off with the character's name in place of "Template", trope of patronage (using a link from the Allthetropes wiki), and prospective domain based on said trope. Then, flesh out their entry with specialty and portfolio listings, theme music (linked from a site such as YouTube) if applicable, an introductory text describing who they are as well as how they entered the Crossworlds, at least one profile image if applicable, as well as interaction flavor bullets. Within the folder name for the profile, denote whether it is a WIP (work-in-progress) or Ready profile.
# For WIP profiles, you are open to receiving feedback on what could be done to improve the profile. It is also acceptable to indicate specific details you are asking help with, placed with (parentheses) or [brackets] in a short standalone bullet text, for example. Once you put a profile into Ready mode, you are saying the profile is ready to be evaluated and potentially either accepted, or turned back with suggested improvements. If a profile is accepted, you may move it into its suggested domain, as well as erase the lines indicating your status as its author or co-author.
Faction Submission
Details coming soon.
Considerations and Guidelines
# Real-life persons cannot be directly entered into the Crossworlds. The closest you can get to entering a real-life person is a directly fictionalized version of them in which they provided or approved the use of their name and likeness; said fictionalized version must be a strong representative of the trope they're being proposed for. (Characters inspired by them who are not explicitly supposed to be them are considered other beings entirely, thus not subject to any of this.) Treat the fictionalized real-life person like a fictional character and use your creativity to devise hypothetical scenarios between them and other characters. Make sure to keep the bleeding-in of real-life details that are irrelevant to the fictional version to a minimum so as to avoid it seeming too "meta" or self-referential.
## Some real-life individuals, including content creators, may be considered disqualified for profiles even if a fictional self-portrayal exists due to controversies that would make them concern the Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment. In the case of content creators this applies to, their fictional works can still be included, but reference to the creators themselves should be avoided if possible. To determine where a current creator would be disqualified:
## If the person in question holds public office, is openly campaigning for public office, has a position in political media, or is otherwise noted as actively influencing elected officials, fictional selves produced before this took place are automatically disqualified. If they leave the political arena and receive/partake in fictional portrayals afterward, these will be admissible.
## Immediate disqualification for either a guilty sentence in a significant court case against the person, or evidence of consistently repeated, deliberate, and/or intentionally provocative hostile or dehumanizing speech and advocacy. The latter can be applied to both liberals and conservatives, in the example of the common divide in the West, and this is not about holding strong principles one way or the other as "hate speech" is commonly applied in modern political parlance. This is about hatred or callous disregard for the humanity of those with whom a person may differ from or disagree, up to and including criminal activity.
## If the person is involved in a controversy that is neither legal nor political, wait for at least a month after the latest significant update before trying to bring them in. If a confirmation from the questioned creator (or associates) themselves occurs which lightens up the issue, then wait for a week.
# For profile images, the default preference is obviously to submit official art/graphics/photos, but if none is available for the character or if special format considerations permit, fanart that closely emulates the official art style most common to the character's franchise is acceptable as well. Multiple images will be acceptable via tabs, but try to avoid submitting multiple images that show the character in the exact same state or time period. Rule of thumb is, if the form, appearance, or costume of the character has any significant changes from one picture to the next, it's normally safe to include them both. The tabs format of this Wiki is conducive to holding multiple images in a single infobox without cluttering up the works. (If the profile is ultimately accepted, the official domain post may transform the images into a particular medium using an AI tool in order to unify all characters under one singular graphic medium as much as possible. The originals will be preserved in the Source Content Gallery pages. This is not yet finalized, however.)
# Regarding theme music, avoid simply saying "Theme of X" or "Main Theme" whenever possible. For works specializing in distinct character themes, such as video games, for example, there will likely be a type of asset or resource within the work itself or instruction/reward material that every character with a theme also has one of. Use that common resource once it's identified (bonus points if you can be the one to identify said resource) and/or a recognizable lyric as the title of the theme in the link. If it's a Title: The Adaptation name, use the Title portion, remove the colon, and abbreviate The Adaptation portion, as in Title TA. For further details and indexed examples, see Custom Asset Titles.
# Remember that, for a project like this, creativity is your friend. When putting together a character's bullet texts, try to actually think of cool situations, interactions, and things to do that then build to how they relate to other characters around the Crossworlds. Friendships, enmities, rivalries, factions, pacts, mutual respects, acquaintanceships, and yes, even romantic relationships (provided they pass the muster of strict standards), are all things that fictional characters, including most of the ones that will enter the Crossworlds, and real-life persons alike will experience. Therefore, all of this should be on the table as potential events for profiled characters, so long as it doesn't step against who they are in canon, but simply adds in to it. Some projects will maintain official rules that seem innocent enough, but apply those rules in such a rigid manner that they seem to expect every bullet text to be a wall of text while granting so little breathing room that the only content that is relatively completely unrestrained is describing how characters think and feel about one another. This is not one of those projects. Here, active personal agency is more important than impressive length, you're allowed to be concise at points if you need to, and the only real limits are who the character is and how much of their official story remains to be told.
## On the note of canon, one would be ignorant to begin or continue a Wiki-style mass crossover interaction project without taking note that over the past decade there has been a large shift in focus and priority throughout Western entertainment fiction that is primarily motivated by the polarizing "modern audience" movement. This has resulted in alterations and changes across many franchises, even to the point of direct retcons or deliberately out-of-character acts meant to drastically alter the perception of the characters and settings. Such moves have divided their fanbases to a notable degree and even resulted in creators accusing fans of derogatory biases for simply not liking their works. While works produced under this new mindset do maintain their fans and are valid to include overall, the nature of their existence separates them from preexisting works within the same franchise in such a manner that they are effectively two different canons, whether explicitly intended as such or not. For characters that exist in works both before and after the change became evident in their franchise, the primary canon will be the original works. Material from the post-modern works is subject to the same rules as alternate continuity or adaptations: it can and should be acknowledged in supplementary ways, but aspects that contradict the original canon character must be subordinated and/or creatively applied through interactions.

Character Profile Submission
# To begin submitting characters to the Crossworlds, first propose the character as well as their trope of patronage in the Initial Proposals folder on the Preparations page.

Considerations and Guidelines
# First thing first, remember that, for a project like this, creativity is your friend. Some projects will maintain official rules that seem innocent enough, but apply those rules in such a rigid manner that the only content that seems to not be overtly restricted is describing how characters think and feel about one another, while still expecting each bullet text to be a wall of text. This is not one of those projects. Here, active personal agency is more important than impressive length, you're allowed to be concise at points if you need to, and the only real limits are who the character is and how much of their official story remains to be told.
# Professional wrestlers exist in an odd juxtaposition between fiction and real life. Their work involves portraying character personas that also serve as their public brand and identity, regardless of whether said personas go by their real names. However, said personas go through wild changes depending on the promotion and brand they're working for, face-heel alignments, associations and rivalries, to the point they may as well have become completely different characters, while still remaining the same being. Therefore, wrestlers who remain active in a major company on a regular basis are nearly impossible to get a consistent read on who they are which won't drastically change in 2-3 years' time. In order to prevent an obvious risk of constant rework requirements, a wrestler entering the Crossworlds must be retired, semi-retired, or winding their career down through local independent work; appearances in major promotions should be sporadic at best. To compensate, one of the four theme tracks for each Domain will be a wrestling theme, likely one used by an active wrestler, either currently or in the past.
If said adaptation's name, likeness, alignment/personality, etc. are different enough that it can be considered another character altogether, it is fine to devise a creative reason for both to coexist, or to enter the adapted version separately under a different trope and profile. Material from the post-modern works is subject to rule #6, the same as alternate continuity or adaptations.

The process.
Character Profile Submission
# To begin submitting characters to the Crossworlds, first propose the character as well as their trope of patronage in the Initial Proposals folder on the Preparations page.

Considerations and Guidelines
# First thing first, remember that, for a project like this, creativity is your friend.
If it's a Title: The Adaptation name, use the Title portion, remove the colon, and abbreviate The Adaptation portion, as in Title TA. For further details and indexed examples, see Custom Asset Titles.
# Characters from certain famous multimedia franchises will have multiple versions, canons, adaptations, or continuities. In those cases, the primary source canon continuity designated by the original creator(s) is king and must be held consistently to for the character's profile. Traits from alternate versions, such as reboots, remakes, and cross-media adaptations, can be incorporated and acknowledged in ways supplementary to the original canon. However, any facts or events that contradict the originals must be subordinated or applied creatively through Crossroads interactions rather than treated as a default aspect that the character came in with. If said adaptation's name, likeness, alignment/personality, etc. are different enough that it can be considered another character altogether, it is fine to devise a creative reason for both to coexist, or to enter the adapted version separately under a different trope and profile. Tropes that explicitly rely on adaptational changes will likely exclusively be for such characters.
# On the note of canon, one would be ignorant to begin or continue a Wiki-style mass crossover interaction project without taking note that over the course of a decade-long period from the mid-2010s to the mid-2020s, two contrasting yet highly visible agendas have simultaneously domated Western entertainment fiction, resulting in alterations and changes across many media franchises:<br>One: an ideologically-driven shift in focus and priority primarily motivated by the polarizing "inclusive modern audience" movement.<br>Two: a profit-driven initiative towards constant continuations, reboots, and remakes of decades-old classic works and franchises.<br>The resulting changes have reached the point of direct retcons or deliberately out-of-character acts meant to drastically alter the perception of the characters and settings. Such moves have divided their fanbases to a notable degree, to which creators have routinely responded by accusing fans of derogatory biases for simply not liking their works.

Considerations and Guidelines
# First thing first, remember that, for a project like this, creativity is your friend.
Traits from alternate versions, such as reboots, remakes, cross-media adaptations, and anything subject to an era of politically correct retcons (such as the Hays Code era of 1934 to 1968 or the current DEI/MAGA adversarial era generally started in 2014), can be incorporated and acknowledged in ways supplementary to the original canon.
## The "politically correct retcons" note is pertinent to expand upon, as one would be ignorant to begin or continue a Wiki-style mass crossover interaction project without taking note that over the course of a decade-long period from the mid-2010s to the mid-2020s, Western entertainment fiction has been dominated by both a profit motive drive towards reboots, remakes, and continuations of classic franchises and an ideological motive to make works more "inclusive" by altering the demographics of existing characters and introducing talking points based on modern personal-political debates. This has resulted in MANY direct retcons or deliberately out-of-character acts meant to drastically alter the perceptions of characters and settings, dividing fanbases along notably partisan lines. Many modern creators have even furthered the divide by accusing fans of derogatory biases for simply not liking their works. While works produced under this new mindset do maintain their fans and are valid to include overall, the nature of their existence separates them from preexisting works within the same franchise in such a manner that they are effectively two different canons, whether explicitly intended as such or not. We will acknowledge this difference on this project, which is why PC retcons will be subject to the same rule as alternate continuities and adaptations, with works set before/outside of these changes being treated as primary canon.
